PADI DISCOVER TECHNICAL DIVER
Are you curious about the technical dive (tec), but aren't you sure you want to sign up for the full course? Discover Tec is a water-bound experience that allows you to experience technical underwater. You will wear all the technical equipment and make a trial dive. Your PADI Tec Instructor could show you some basic skills, such as the exchange from the primary dispenser with the secondary one and the closing procedures of the cylinder.
If you are interested in technical immersion and want to participate in Discover Tec, you must be PADI Open Water Diver, be at least 18 years old and a minimum of 10 registered dives.
Your PADI Tec Instructor will illustrate the equipment you will use, and will explain the basic procedures of the technical underwater, such as the importance of diving into the team. You will enter the water, adjust the equipment and then explore the equipment.
If you successfully complete the required skills of the Addiction Immersion One of the Tec 40, the Discover Tec experience may be accredited to the Tec 40 course.
PADI TEC 40
The PADI Tec 40 course is the transition point from recreational to technical diving. It's the ideal starting point because it's the first stage of the full PADI Tec Diver course, bridging the gap between no-stop diving and deep technical decompression diving. You'll gain experience and begin learning the theory and skills you need to continue your training. You will be qualified to make limited decompression dives to 4 metres.
To enroll in the Tec 40 course you must be:
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
• PADI Enriched Air Diver with at least 10 enriched air dives deeper than 18 meters/60 feet
• PADI Deep Diver or have at least 10 dives to 3 metres/100 feet
• Be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives.
Furthermore, you must have a Medical Certificate with Nulla Osta signed by a doctor in the previous 12 months.
The Tec 40 course consists of three theory development sessions, three practical applications and four training dives.
You will learn different concepts about:
• Risks and responsibilities of technical diving
• Correct technical equipment, preparation and assembly
• Gas planning, oxygen limits and decompression planning
• Team diving techniques and emergency procedures, including dealing with continuous dispense, manifold leaks, and out-of-air situations
PADI TEC 45
The PADI Tec 45 course is the second part of the complete PADI Tec Deep Diver program. You will extend your depth limit to 45 metres/14 feet, and learn to plan and conduct repetitive decompression dives using a single phase/decom tank. You will use the complete technical equipment, which can be in a "backmount" or "sidemount" configuration. Additionally, using enriched air or pure oxygen, you will make accelerated decompression dives. This is a challenging course, during which you will put serious effort into becoming a technical diver.
To enroll in the Tec 45 course you must:
• Being a PADI Tec 40 diver
• Be a PADI Rescue Diver
• Have logged at least 5 dives, at least 12 of which were enriched air dives deeper than 18 metres/60 feet and dives deeper than 3 metres/100 feet.
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be in possession of a Medical Certificate with Nulla Osta signed by a doctor within the previous 12 months
The Tec 45 course consists of three theory development sessions, three practical applications and four open water training dives. Building on what you have learned in the Tec 40 course, you will focus on the function and maintenance of technical equipment and related issues. You will continue to refine your gas planning and calculation of accelerated decompression stops. Plus, you'll learn to think like a technical diver.
PADI TEC 50
The third part of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program is the Tec 50. As a Tec 50 diver, you will demonstrate that you have developed proficiency as a technical diver and have the skills to dive to a maximum depth of 50 metres/165 feet. Using up to two mixes, you'll know how to make extended and accelerated decompression stops. It's not easy to reach this level, and earning your Tec 50 certification will open the door to even deeper diving expeditions.
To enroll in the Tec 50 course you must:
• Being a PADI Tec 45 diver
• Have logged at least 100 dives, at least 20 of which were enriched air dives deeper than 18 metres/6 feet and 15 dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet.
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be in possession of a Medical Certificate with Nulla Osta signed by a doctor within the previous 12 months
The Tec 50 course consists of two theory development sessions, three practical applications and four open water training dives. Central to this course are mission planning and execution. Plus, you'll learn more about how to handle emergencies and how to think like a technical diver.
PADI TEC TRIMIX 65
If you're into technical diving, you know that to extend your depth you need to use trimix, a mixture of helium, oxygen and nitrogen. The Tec Trimix 65 course introduces you to the use of trimix to a maximum depth of 65 metres/210 feet. There are definitely benefits to using three gases, but you need to know how to do it correctly. Attaining the Tec Trimix 65 license makes the deepest explorations possible.
You are qualified to enroll in the Tec Trimix 65 course if:
• Six PADI Tec 50 divers
• You have logged at least 100 dives
• You are at least 18 years old
• You have a Medical Certificate with Nulla Osta signed by a doctor within the previous 12 months
Topics developed during the Tec Trimix 65 course include:
• The depth scope for trimix diving
• Exhibition planning
• Choice of mix
• Charging systems with Argon
• Handle three or four decompression tanks
• decompressive models
• Emergency procedures
• Software decompressivi e computer multi-gas
PADI TEC TRIMIX DIVER
Are you ready for the extreme limit of technical diving? The Tec Trimix Diver course transforms experienced technical divers into extreme divers, who go deeper and visit pristine sites where few others will ever go. During the course you will dive to depths of 90 metres/300 feet but once you are certified there are few limits. Your training teaches you to gain experience gradually, and you do it because you've come this far and still have a lot to explore.
To enroll in the Tec Trimix Diver course, you must:
• Be a PADI Tec 50 or Tec Trimix 65 Diver
• Have logged at least 150 dives
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be in possession of a Medical Certificate with Nulla Osta signed by a doctor within the previous 12 months
The Tec Trimix Diver course emphasizes mission application:
• Various gas choice alternatives, especially decompression ones
• Algorithms and “deep stops”
• Use multigas trimix computers
• Manage up to four phase/decompression cylinders
PADI TEC GAS BLENDER
The PADI ENriched Air Diver course is the most popular specialty course and the number of technical divers is increasing which means that many divers are requesting enriched air. The Tec Gas Blender course teaches you how to blend enriched air/nitrox using one or more methods. Being the gas blender is a vital role at a PADI Dive Center or Resort, and your job enables other divers to do what they love: dive.
If you are at least 18 years old and are a PADI Enriched Air Diver, you can enroll in the Tec Gas Blender course.
The Tec Gas Blender course includes three hands-on applications, but no dives. During self-study and instructor-led reviews, you will learn:
• The advantages and disadvantages of the different mixing methods.
• How to make enriched air mixes within one percent of the desired mix.
• The potential dangers of handling oxygen and how to handle them.
• Demonstrate the steps of oxygen cleaning of the equipment along with the requirements of the maintenance itself.
